What to pack for Mexico?
Packing for a trip to Mexico may seem easy, but it is essential to be well prepared so that you do not forget anything. Temperature differences, planned activities and weather conditions can vary from one region to another. We give you a complete list of the elements not to forget to leave serenely in Mexico.
How to dress to visit Mexico?
The first thing to consider when packing for Mexico is the weather. Temperatures can vary from region to region, so make sure you know the local weather. Here is a list of essential clothing:
If you are going to hot and humid areas like the Yucatan coast, it’s a good idea to wear light, breathable clothing like cotton shirts, summer dresses and shorts. Also take swimwear to enjoy the beaches and cenotes.
Consider taking lycra clothing for sun protection on excursions where sunscreen may be prohibited for environmental protection (Contoy, Sian Ka’an, Bacalar, Akumal, etc).
If you are going to cooler areas such as Mexico City or Oaxaca, it is recommended to wear warmer clothes, sweaters, pants and light jackets.
In general, take light, comfortable clothing for warm days but also warmer clothing for cooler evenings or high altitude areas.
If rain is forecast during your trip, a k-way or hooded jacket is ideal.
A few more tips from our travel coaches:
Avoid clothing that is too short or tight, especially if you are visiting religious sites or conservative cities.
Skirts or shorts should be at least knee-length.
Dress comfortably, especially if you plan to go on long walks or outdoor activities.
