Mexico is a large and beautiful country where it is often hot. It is famous for its sunshine and beaches. It is the ideal destination for a year-round vacation in the sun.

There are two seasons in Mexico: the dry season and the rainy season, which vary depending on the cities you visit and the altitude.

The best time to travel to Mexico depends on what you want to do during your trip.

Mexico is known for its paradisiacal beaches, its varied landscapes and its Mayan culture with a pleasant climate all year round. Of course the weather, temperature and climate vary depending on where you are in Mexico.

In the northwest and north-central regions, the climate is desert-like with very hot days and cold nights.
On the Pacific coast of Mexico the weather is temperate and the sea is cooler.

In the middle of the country, the climate is subtropical with hot days and cool nights. In the southwest of Mexico it is more tropical with a lot of humidity but it is hot and the water temperature is high.

On the Caribbean coast, the temperatures are ideal, with warmth and sunshine, constantly warm water and plenty of sunshine during the day.

For the weather in Mexico, there are two seasons: the dry season from October to May and the wet or rainy season from June to September. The climate is generally tropical and arid in the country.

The minimum temperature is 10°C, the maximum 33°C and the average temperature is 21°C.

The high tourist season in Mexico is in April with the Holy Week. From March to July is the season of algae on the Caribbean beaches, you will find algae on the edges of the beach and in the water.

What is the best month to go to Cancún, Playa del Carmen or Tulum? April? October?

If you want to visit Mexico and the Quintana Roo region, you can come between November and April because it is the best season, the sunniest and most pleasant months with an average temperature of 27°C.

In April, there is very little chance of rain. This month is good for going to the beach, hiking and diving. It is also the national vacation in Mexico, especially during Holy Week and Easter. As a result, prices are quite high and there are many tourists during this month.

The advice of our travel coachs is to visit Cancún, Playa del Carmen and Tulum in Mexico between October and early November. This is the beginning of the dry season with very little algae, a time that is not very touristy for this part of Mexico with a good climate.

The dry season starts from October until May. During this period, there is dry weather, mild heat and less humidity.

It is during this season that it will be ideal for you to do excursions, the weather will be fine with very little risk of rain.

You can take advantage of the dry season to make cultural visits like the archaeological sites, Chichen Itza, Tulum and Coba.

Discover paradise islands: Isla Mujeres, Isla Contoy, Holbox, Cozumel… With the possibility of making extraordinary dives on Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel or Tulum.

This is the most pleasant season to do activities but it is also possible to do them during the rainy season.

What is the rainy season in Mexico?

What is the rainy season in Mexico? The rainy season runs from June to September with a higher probability of rain than the other months which tend to be very dry and low humidity.

In July, it is estimated that there is an average of 8 days of rain in the month and in September 9 days. For the months of June and August, on average, there are 6 days of rain.

During this period, the temperatures rise, the days are always very sunny but there can be rain more frequently in the evening and at night, especially often until the early morning.
You can still enjoy your days under the Mexican sun. There may just be a short but heavy shower during the day or night.

This is the warmest season, despite the rains and precipitation. It is also the most cyclone-prone time on the coast, especially towards the end of the rainy season.

In September, hurricanes can hit the Caribbean coast and the Gulf of Mexico. They are very frequent in Mexico, it can happen on average 16 times a year. The most affected regions are the West, North and Southwest of Mexico.

You can still plan to come on vacation in Mexico during the wet or rainy season, nothing will prevent you from making excursions or other cultural visits.

The advantage of leaving during the low season is that there will be fewer tourists and the prices of airfare, accommodation and some activities will be cheaper.

When to go to Mexico for cheap?

Mexico

On average, to go to Mexico City from Paris, the round trip cost is 681€. The cheapest month to come to Mexico City is March with a price of 582€.
The most expensive month is July with tickets at 898€.

For this destination, the trick is to take a flight with a stopover by leaving on a Thursday and returning on a Monday.

Buy your plane ticket to come to Mexico in Mexico City, 2 to 3 months before the departure to obtain the best prices.

Cancun

The average round trip cost for a flight from Paris to Cancún is 550€. September is the cheapest month to come to Cancún with tickets at 466€. It is the month with the most rainy days, the most hurricanes and the least amount of tourists. July is the most expensive month with tickets at 759€.

The trick is to take a flight with a stopover, to leave on a Wednesday and to return on a Tuesday.

The plane tickets to come to Cancún in Mexico will be less expensive if you take them 2 to 3 months before the departure.

These tips are very important in view of the current inflation which affects the price of air tickets more than ever.
